What is homoeopathy? What are homoeopathic medicines? How a patient is treated? What is "Similia Similibus Curentur"? Read answers to all these in this article.What is homoeopathy & how it treats the patient ? Homoeos means similar and pathos means suffering. Homoeopathy is a system of medicine based on the principle Similia Similibus Curenture which means " Like cures lie ". A drug that is capable of producing symptoms in a healthy individual is also capable of using same symptoms in a diseased individual. Let us understand how this principal works - when you are stung by a bee? You feel the stinging and burning pain, smelling, heal and redness. These are the symptoms you experience when an angry bee injects its venom into your healthy body. A poisonous substance like bee venom ( Apis mellifica) can be used as a homoeopathic medicine. The bee venom when used as a homoeopathic medicine can relieve the pain and discomfort of bee sting as well as other illness have symptoms irrespective of the name of the disease. For e.g. people suffering from conjunctivitis who complain of stinging or burning pain, redness and smelling of eyelids of ten benefit from Apis. Let us understand this principle with help of some more examples from our day to day life. A young girl who has had disappointment in love is feeling very sad lonely depressed our usual towards person would be to say "Come on let us party, go out, your spirits will be lifted you get a change and your feel better ". Initially she may feel better but once she is back home the loneliness will be worse. She starts depending on company to avoid sadness but the loneliness actually never leaves her. Temporally doing the opposite will give relief only for sometime. But the homoeopathic approach would be that if she were to talk to somebody who has just lost her near and dear one she will realize that, that person grief and sadness is of a greater intensity than her. This would help her to slowly come out of it. Minor burn injuries are very common while cooking or bursting crackers etc. The first thing you do is put your hand in cold water and find an instant relief. But as soon as you remove your hand the burning increases and you are compelled to put your hand back into the cold water. Later on there may also be blister formal. But instead if your were to put your hand in warm water the burning continues but once you remove your hand there is much relief and no blister formation. I hope these simple examples have made the principle Like cures like much clearer to you. This principal was discovered by Dr.Samuel Hhannemann in 18th century. He started testing substances one by one on himself as a healthy provers. Each substance produced symptoms at mental and physical level c he noted down in minute details. Many of these substance are poisonous in natural form he thought of diluting substance by process of serial dilutions and shaking. These dilutions are called potencies. By doing so he found that the symptomatic effect of the drug was enhanced and there was no toxicity left. In Auyrveda medicines are made from natural substances but there are no dilutions potencies. Penitences are found only in homoeopathy. So let me show you how he prepared these potencies. You take one droop of drug substance and 99 droops of alchohol to it. Give the mixture 10 jerks - this is the 1st pot. Contains 1/1000 part of the drug For 2nd potency you take one drops of alchohol. Give 10 jerks - this is 2nd pot. Contains 1/100,00 part of the drug Thus subsequent potencies are prepared. In 30th pontency contains 1 part of the drug substance diluted in 1060 drops of alcohol. You can imagine the volume of dilution in 200, 1000 and 10,000th potency ? When pontencies are diluted to such a great extent they are found to act very powerfully because it seems that in the process of potentisation some stated up energy in released. This is such an ultra dilution that there is no drug substance found on chemical analysis. It is by this process today that the use natural substance like Common Salt i.e. Natrum Mur. It is very interesting to know how salt is associated the world Namak Haram and this very similar feeling came up in the proving common salt also i.e. the intense feeling of betrayal. Other commonly know substance we use are Gold i.e. Aurum met Silver i.e. Arg met Petato i.e. Solanum Tuberosum Marigeld " Calendula Coffee " Coffea cruda Red papper " Capsicum Nitric acid " Acid nitricum Mercury " Merc sol. Are sugar pills the only way of administrating homoeopathic medicines ? We use pills and powder for dispensing the medicines. Pills are made from cane sugar and powder is made from milk sugar. The medicine is in liquid from and this liquid is poured over the powders and in pills in quantity enough to moisture all of them. What is the life of homoeopathic medicine ? Homoeopathic remedies have no expiry date - it can be pressured for years if well kept away from moisture and strong smelling substances. Can all types of disease be treated with Homoeopathy and does Homeopathy recommend surgeries ? Homoeopathy is capable of treating all conditions treated with medicine. However there ar certain conditions can require surgical interference like fractures, congenital defects, operable cancers. In these conditions there are gross physical changes not correlated by medicine. But there are so called surgical conditions like tonsillitis, piles, , slip disc can he effectively treated by Homoeopathy. Homoeopathy is well know for its Rx in chronic diseases like asthama, headache, rheumatism, ulcer, allergies and skin disorders. A very common is that in acute conditions like fever- malaria, typhoid, pneumonias, vomiting, diarrhoea etc one has to take the aid of modern medicine which is not true. In fact homoeopathy works effectively in such acute conditions. Also there are certain conditions not by any system including homeoopathy i.e. terminal cancers, advance degenerative disorder - But what homoeoapthy can do in such conditions that it can give much relief out side effects and certain cases control further deterioration. |
